It looks like 2007 will be the year when swedish hihop came back to life. While swedish indie has been a big hit all over the world in the 00s, the domestic hiphop scene has been sound asleep.
But now looks as if things finally are starting to happen. The skweee-movement displays their quirky blend of funk, crunk, electro and grime on "Museum of Future Sounds". Basutbudet has a smililar approach on their sizzling debut album "Starpaketet/Pluspaketet", the music can be described as skweee and futuristic detroit techno with rap.
Right now the Stockholm rapper Adam Tensta is the man of the moment with his debut album "It's a Tensta Thing". Tensta and hot new producer duo Addeboy vs Cliff creates a colourful blend of hiphop, blog house, euro and pop. He doesn't hit the spot every time, but the album is constantly entertaining and contains a bunch of potential hits. Hopefully a new generation of innovative swedish hiphop acts will follow in the footsteps of Tensta, Basutbudet and the skweee-crew in 2008.
