This French/Faroese/Danish/Spanish, 23 year old singer/songwriter Aura – with the family name Dione – gives us everything from deluxe pop to storytelling singer-songwriting and ”Woman with an attitude” music like Kate Nash and Lily Allen. The lead single, ”Something From Nothing”, has already become a big Danish radio hit. ”Song For Sophie” will certainly become another one, while the opening song ”Glass Bone Crash”, “Clean Hands” (about incest) and ”Antony” (a tribute to the Antony And The Johnsons singer) show us the full range of Aura’s great, Feist/Tracy Chapman reminiscent voice. ”Columbine” is an appropriate title for such a well done and long lasting album. Aura dances along with her voice, her personal, but never private lyrical universe and her clear style. An international appealing release. What a treat!
