The debut album from Choir Of Young Believers aka singer/songwriter Jannis Noya Makrigiannis with friends has been one of the year’s most anticipated in the Danish media after last year’s promising ”Burn The Flag” EP and two major ”next big thing” awards from Denmark’s national TV and the union of the Danish music critics. The album consists primarily of songs that are starting out as low-key guitar and/or piano driven melancholic ballads and explode in widescreen choruses filled to the brim with strings, horns, and choirs. All the way with Makrigiannis’ soft, sensitive, yet strong vocals as a major focal point. Especially the Asian and Middle Eastern inspired string passages are magnificent.
