Festival in Europe: Ypsigrock

Palermo, Italy

Ypsigrock
Palermo, Italy
http://www.ypsigrock.it
from Friday 07/08/2009
to Sunday 09/08/2009

Ypsigrock takes place in Castelbuono, a small place on a hill, 100km from Palermo and 20km from the Tirreno sea. Sorrounded by the wood of the Madonie, this small and inexpensive festival takes place in the fascinating medieval part of the village. Being a reference for every Sicilian indie-rocker and it is open to many visitors coming from outside, it also includes a camping site. The level of the line-up is always good (sometimes announced at the last minute) and in the recent years it has seen artists like Blonde Redhead, Motorpsycho and Mouse On Mars.

Info from organizers:
Ypsigrock Festival is the biggest outdoor musical festival in Sicily. It\'s turned to be the benchmark for addicted indie-rock culture lovers. Ypsigrock differs, \'cause it mixes up several charming aspects of a music festival with an irresistible scenario. The level of the line-up is always good and in the recent years it has seen artists like Jon Spencer, dEUS, Blonde Redhead, Motorpsycho, Bonnie Prince Billy, Apparat, Patrick Wolf, Dave Thomas, Venus and Mouse on Mars.
It simply steps back in time. The big stage below the wonderful castle and the medieval village is crowded by thousands of listeners. Many people from all Europe. A huge mix of interacting cultures in the heart of the most unknown Sicily.
Getting to Castelbuono commonly means discovering an unexpected and an marvelous Sicily: a journey through artistic, natural and cultural beauty. The focus point of such a beauty is the Piazza Castello (Place of the Castle), whereas the most important international artists trig the snow within a fascinating arena far-fetched overstuffed. The main stage of Ypsigrock Festival is therefore the precious Piazza Castello, held by the old medieval arch, the large staircases and, of course, the castle. A rich area for history and dazing beauty
