Gipsy.cz are like a dog that constantly barks and bites...but everybody loves them. There´s really something attractive about their raw music and unscrupulous lyrics. The group´s rumpled style evokes an atmosphere of Romany ghetto, where most of the band members, including rapper Radoslav Banga, spent their childhood. That´s why the Romany question is the main topic of Banga´s lyrics. However, there´s no moaning but objective and sometimes cynical view of this delicate issue. Last year Gipsy.cz attained considerable success as they were chosen to perform at the legendary Glastonbury Festival. It was the first time any Czech band appeared there. Hopefully it was also the European breakthrough for this dauntless gypsy ensemble. // Jan Kyncl
