Berlin based Lily Electric deliver a brilliant debut album – brilliant from its very beginning. Lead singer Bjarke Porsmose's fragile yet harmonic voice is layered beautifully on the opening and title track, "You're In The Painting You Saw". The crunchy guitar sound on "Don't Change The Suit When It's You" up against the nonchalant vocal echoes Blur circa "Leisure" which is no bad thing for a band which gladly label themselves art rock. The same expression can be used about the climax of the album, the six minute long "Love Travels Far" which – with its slightly introvert ending and Madchester beat – indeed revokes good memories from the early 90's. One of the most elegantly affected and sophisticated Danish albums for quite some time.
