A guitar and a drum set. That’s all Madensuyu needs to launch a hypnotic attack upon the listener’s brain. On ‘A Field Between’, their first full-length, the duo from Ghent already created an unclassifiable hybrid of punk, hardcore and shameless popmelodies and ‘D Is Done’ refines their unique sound in an ashtonishing way. PJ Vervondel and Stijn ‘Ylode’ De Gezelle play with a brutal intensity that is unseen in Belgian rock history. Logically, songs as ‘FAFAFAFUCKIN’’ and ‘Write or Wrong’ are sharper than a razorblade and tighter than a nun’s ass. However, not all tracks are hungry for blood. ‘Oh Frail’ and ‘Tread on Tread Light’ even come close to pure popsongs, but with an edge of madness. ‘D Is Done’ contains nine musical short films containing pure emotion that’s wreathed in flames.
