Ronin is one of "gentle giant" Bruno Dorella's lead projects. His last issue "Lemming" moves from former Western tunes, halfway between Calexico and Morricone, to a special and brand new concept that keeps inside all kinds of folk and jazz music: from manouche Brasil to Ethiopian swing, Ronin defines such a selfish fingerpicking as a personal Weltanschauung based on sadness, loss, sufference, as in Visconti’s Southern movies. Great Amy Denio’s cameo (singing in Italian!) in "Il galeone": put this cd near Tiersen, or Beirut, or Vincent Gallo ones… So heartful and tender, so smooth and sharp: Ronin’s 2007 sound brings up Ghost Records on Europe’s higher, universal languages. Don’t wonder if you cry.
