One of the musical highlights of the summer was Testbild!s sublime cover of "En gång i Stockholm" (translated "Once Upon a Time in Stockholm'"), a song written by Bobbie Ericsson and Beppe Wolgers, originally performed by Monica Zetterlund in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1963 (it got zero points...). Here Petter Herbertsson shows his love for the breezy swedish 60's jazz he grew up with.
The sophisticated jazz is present also on Testbild!s new album “Une teinte intense”, but the swedish archipelago is replaced by the deserts och North Africa. The album is a tribute to one of Testbild!s heroes, the russian/swiss/french explorer and reporter Isabelle Eberhardt (1877 - 1904). Excerpts from diary entries and stories from Eberhardt’s travels are embedded in a dreamy sound where pop meets jazz and exotica.
