Zuzana Novak, English perfomer of Czech descent, is likely the only white women who´s ever been introduced into the bira ritual of Shona tribe (groups of people in Zimbabwe and southern Mozambique). The most important thing in this ritual is mbira, a musical instrument consisting of a wooden board to which staggered metal keys have been attached. Zuzana Novak was so impressed by the mellow, babbling sound of mbira that she decided to take up playing it. As she is also an accomplished singer, her solo performances are truly incredible. During the last year she began touring Europe intensively, she made a breakthrough appearance at WOMAD and also visited her homeland. Album Home Brewed Mbira was recorded at a single concert in Náměšt nad Oslavou.
